PROTEUS-6G aims to advance 6G network fronthaul and midhaul (x-haul) segments through several innovations, including a novel spatially-diverse point-to-multi-point optical fronthaul network using advanced optical interleaving filters, and the development of DSCM transceivers and the LITE-COH TXR, which offers 0.8Tb/s per wavelength and significant power savings. These innovations are managed by a dynamic service management and control system, enabling adaptable functional splits and packet-optical x-haul reconfiguration to meet transport capacity needs. The consortium, comprising industry and academic experts, aims to extend Europe’s leadership in 6G x-haul with high-capacity optoelectronic interfaces and fast-switching nodes utilizing advanced algorithms and control-plane implementations.
